On the route of Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and Northern Ring Motorway, ICA carries out the most extensive afforestation project ever implemented in the history of Republic, with the ongoing afforestation under the viaducts.   When the afforestation in Viaduct 23 in Riva location of Northern Ring Motorway is finished, 6000 more saplings will be planted.

Within the scope of Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and Nothern Marmara Motorway, İçtaş-Astaldi consortium ICA carries out the most extensive afforestation project ever implemented by the private sector in the history of Republic.   Having planted 3 million 710 thousand trees and plants in 3.5 years, ICA organized a sapling planting ceremony with the participation of students under the Viaduct 23, in Riva location of Northern Ring Motorway, in line with its objective of under-viaduct afforestation project. 
Held on Thursday 4 May and hosted by ICA General Manager Atilla Gökçen, the afforestation event was attended by Istanbul Forestry Regional Director Recep Ateş, students of Beykoz Mahmut Şevket Paşa Köyü Middle School and ICA employees. 
When afforestation investments are completed, ICA aims to plant 5 million 100 thousand trees and plants with the works to be carried out on the route of Northern Ring Motorway in and around Istanbul. 
Istanbul Forestry Regional Director Recep Ateş spoke at the afforestation ceremony and said, “We signed a protocol with ICA at the onset of Northern Ring Motorway project to secure afforestation of the route of Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and Northern Ring Motorway.  ICA planted 3 million 710 thousand of trees and plants so far. When this project is finished, 5 million 100 thousand trees and plants will be planted by ICA. This will maket he Northern Ring Motorway more green and the viaducts more colorful with every shade of green.”
“Students plant saplings to green under the viaducts"
Delivering a speech at the event, ICA General Manager Atilla Gökçe said:  “Last year in November, in addition to our afforestation project, we took the first step to plant saplings under the viaducts and held a planting cremony with the students. Today, again with the participation of students, we will plant saplings under the Viaduct 23 in Riva location of the Northern Ring Motorway. Students will plant saplings to green under the viaducts on Northern Ring Motorway. After the ceremony, we will continue to plant more to reach a total of 6000 saplings.”
Stating that ICA has carried out a systematic ad careful afforestation since 2013, Gökçe said: “Together with the General Directorate of Forestry, we planted 604.000 trees since November. With the 6000 saplings to be planted after today, we will reach a total of 3 million 710 thousand trees and plants which we have planted since 2013. When our afforestation investment including  planting a wide range of species such as locust, linden, calabrian pine, cedar is completed, we aim to plant a a total of 5 million 100 thousand trees and plants in Istanbul.”
Maintenance goes on full speed
Atilla Gökçe continued: “We continue maintenance works to ensure sustainability of landscaping and afforestation which we implemented systematically in all stages from construction to operation and which we covered the expenses for.  For a sustainable and viable future, ICA will continue to its afforestation efforts at full speed.”
Attending the afforestation ceremony, students of Beykoz Mahmut Şevket Paşa Köyü Middle School planted saplings while being infomed on afforestation and green environment.
