NECESSARY DOCUMENTS

  •  Measures Document taken from the Turkish Chemical Manufacturers Association (can be obtained from the check point)
  •  Transport Waybill detailing the information of the transported goods
  •  CMR document for the goods that has passed through customs 
  •  Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
  •  Receipt of Payment provided at the Dangerous Substances Check Point

GOODS THAT ARE ALLOWED TO PASS THROUGH YAVUZ SULTAN SELIM BRIDGE

  • Classification of the goods that will pass through the bridge are made according to ADR 2017 guidelines and legislations of Directorate General for Hazardous Goods and Combined Transport Regulation.
  • All vehicles carrying any kind of chemical goods has to go through the checkpoint even if the good they are carrying are not hazardous. 
  • All vehicles that are carrying hazardous chemicals or goods (combustive, toxic, inflammable, corrosive, medical waste and goods that pose environmental risk etc.) has to go through the bridge with a convoy. 
  • Class 1 explosives cannot pass through Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge (goods that are classified in the 1.4 S class can go through the bridge if they get permission by calling the phone number 161 at least one day before passing)
  • Class 2 concentrated combustion gasses cannot pass through Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge.
  • Radioactive materials which are subject to ADR class 7, can pass through the bridge with permits obtained from Turkish Atomic Energy Authority. 

CONVOY PROCESS

Vehicles can pass through Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge with a convoy including a fire truck, tow truck and convoy control vehicles 3 times (14:00-22:00-01:00) during weekdays and 2 times (14:00-01:00) during weekends and national holidays.

Vehicle inspections and convoys are organized by Hazardous Substance Check Points located in both the Asian and European sides. Convoy speed per hour cannot exceed 50 kilometers. Criminal actions will be taken against the vehicles that break the convoy formation.

POINTS TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION

Hazardous warning and orange license plate markings have to be used in accordance with ADR 8.3.1. 

Firefighting equipment have to be present in accordance with ADR 8.4.1.

Vehicles need to be present at check points with necessary documents at least 30 minutes before convoy passing time.  

Illegal crossing attempts without stopping at check points will be fined with 10 (ten) times the crossing fee and the vehicle being towed.

Other than that, the goods that are not allowed to cross has to apply at General Directorate of Highways.
