World Environment Day, which is celebrated by the United Nations every year with a different theme, was commemorated this year with the title of protecting soil wealth and erosion.  Sarıyer, Kısırkaya Beach, which was organized by ICA Volunteers with primary school students in accordance with the theme of 'reduction and recycling of plastic waste' announced the previous year, was reorganized this year in accordance with the new theme. 

AIMING TO INSTILL ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS IN CHILDREN

In this year's event, which was organized with the students of Sarıyer Doğa College and Fatih Primary School, a concert by Fungİstanbul sustainable music group and a workshop on making instruments from waste materials were held. After the music concert, saplings were planted in the memorial forest on ICA's Garipçe campus with the children. The children gained 'zero waste awareness' at the concert given by the FungIstanbul band with instruments made from waste materials, and learned about the relationship between afforestation and erosion in line with this year's theme.
